Action of the Week

Donate to LA Wildfire & Disaster Relief
Today serves as a poignant reminder that last year, the LA City Council approved a budget cut of $23 million to the LA Fire Department. Having lived in Los Angeles, a city I deeply love, I’ve been devastated by the destruction caused by these fires. In September, I ate at Reel Inn, one of my favorite restaurants, and woke up to the news this morning that it was destroyed by the fires in Pacific Palisades last night. With fires continuing to spread and winds intensifying, our thoughts are with everyone in the LA area. While these circumstances are beyond anyone's control, we want to highlight the California Fire Foundation, an organization that collaborates with local fire agencies and community-based organizations to provide essential support to affected residents as the extent of the damage becomes clear. This week, we encourage our readers to make a donation—whether large or small—to assist the victims of wildfires and disasters across California.
Stay of the Week

A New Hotel in Silverlake
While on the topic of supporting California, and Los Angeles, we are excited to see the newest offering from Casetta—an innovative boutique hotel brand celebrated for its thoughtful restorations of historic buildings that seamlessly blend heritage with modern luxury. The group plans to launch three new properties in the first quarter of this year, with Hotel Lucile being one of our favorites. Set to welcome guests early this year, the hotel features 25 beautifully designed rooms that showcase its stunning architecture, adorned with fabric artwork, pleated lampshades, velvet accents, and original stained-glass windows. Guests can expect a range of amenities, including a pool, a rooftop lounge, and an elegant restaurant and bar housed within the building’s main chapel. We also appreciate Casetta Group's partnership with Plastic Bank, which enhances sustainability efforts by reducing plastic waste and making a positive community impact in their boutique hotels.

Another Design-Forward Cannabis Shop in NYC
We recently discovered Charlie Fox through @home.studios, an interior architecture and design firm in Brooklyn led by Oliver Haslegrave. We were amazed to find such a stunning space right in our own backyard—and even more surprised to learn that it houses a legal cannabis store. This makes it the perfect destination for those participating in Dry January who are seeking an alcohol alternative to their usual post-work glass of wine. Charlie Fox offers a line of premium cannabis products crafted with all-natural ingredients sourced directly from New York growers, focusing on lower doses of THC to help you achieve your desired mood—whether you want to create, socialize, relax, or sleep. The three-floor space features an apothecary, a parlour and retail lounge, with a third-floor den set to open soon. We’re thrilled to welcome another design-forward cannabis space to the NYC community. Be sure to check it out at 48th and Seventh Ave!
